Like most public employees, my father has dedicated his life to helping others. His passion for service propelled him to pursue a career as a police officer in Muncie, Indiana. Although his job meant he wasn’t always able to be home for the holidays, I understood and took pride in the fact that he was fulfilling his duty to our community.
For over 20 years he worked diligently to protect and serve. From stopping to help the stranded motorist on the side of the road to dropping everything to assist an elderly neighbor in need, my father’s dedication to others was unyielding.
Public employees like my father are driven by a commitment to serve. I am proud of my father’s years of hard work and thankful for the values his public service has imparted upon me. And, I am thankful that after decades of service, his pension will provide him with a secure retirement.
On behalf of all of us here at NPPC, I would like to say thank you to all of the workers who dedicate their careers to the noble pursuit of public service. You deserve to retire with dignity and we are proud to fight to protect that.
