Oklahoma

Keep Oklahoma’s Promises exists to protect the retirement security and dignity of firefighters, teachers, nurses, librarians, and other public employees.

About Oklahoma's Coalition

Keep Oklahoma’s Promises (KOP) was founded before the 2013 Oklahoma legislative session by a coalition of teachers, firefighters, and other public employees who came together to ensure our great state honors its promises and obligations.

In recent years, KOP has been on the front lines defending the pensions of hard-working Oklahoma public employees, including working to pass the first cost-of-living adjustment for retired public employees in over a decade.

Everyone in Oklahoma benefits from the hard work and service of our firefighters, teachers, law enforcement officers, and many other public employees. That’s why we need to ensure that Oklahomans who go into public service can count on a secure retirement.

If you live in Oklahoma and are interested in making your voice heard about retirement security for public employees in the state, please fill out the form below. After completing the form below, you will receive a kit in the mail with tips and more information about actions you can participate in.

Join the fight to protect public employees’ pensions in Oklahoma. Join KOP today.

Access to a pension, Social Security and retiree healthcare no longer guarantees a secure retirement for public workers given rising health costs and longer lives. Read Dan Doonan's latest Forbes column on new research with Aon. http://ow.ly/1l7T50NtQZB #retirement

On average, women earn 84% of men's wages. That percentage is even smaller for women of color–contributing to income insecurity in retirement. Pensions help to close these income gaps for women and provide security in retirement. https://protectpensions.org/2023/03/22/pensions-help-women-close-the-income-gap-repost/
