Texas

The Texas Pension Coalition works for teachers, firefighters, police officers, and state employees, to protect their public pension benefits and ensure they can retire with dignity and security.

About Texas' Coalition

Well over a million teachers, firefighters, police officers, and local and state employees throughout Texas actively invest in their retirements through public pensions. Hundreds of thousands of retirees in the state depend on their pensions to survive. Strong public pension systems ensure that Texans who have served their communities can comfortably retire—and encourage others to make similar commitments.

The Texas Pension Coalition represents the interests of active and retired public employees throughout Texas. We work to make retirement security an ongoing conversation between public employees, their employers, and their representatives.

On average, women earn 84% of men's wages. That percentage is even smaller for women of color–contributing to income insecurity in retirement. Pensions help to close these income gaps for women and provide security in retirement. https://protectpensions.org/2023/03/22/pensions-help-women-close-the-income-gap-repost/
