Things are different this holiday season. For our safety and the safety of others, we may forego our usual Thanksgiving gathering. While we’ve had to change what tradition looks like, we have been fortunate enough to rely on our essential public employees. That’s why this Thanksgiving, we want to give special thanks to those dedicated public servants who are the backbones of our communities.

During this year’s coronavirus pandemic, public employees like nurses, firefighters, garbage collectors, municipal workers, and teachers have shown up to work to serve in our communities. And not just current employees – we witnessed retirees stepping up to lend their skills. Every day, public employees answer the call to help keep us and our loved ones safe, even if it means putting themselves at risk. While we may not be able to see all our family and friends this year, we can still give thanks. So tomorrow, we ask that you thank a public employee in your life for all that they do for us.

Happy Thanksgiving.
